This has been a strange, warm, and relatively snowless winter. We have seen none of the typical winter finches. Thankfully, Bohemian Waxwings were in abundance. A Northern Shrike has been occasionally sniffing around the feeding stations. Ruffed Grouse were still doing territorial displays in the middle of January. A flock of Dark-eyed Juncos (including one "Oregon" subspecies) and some American Tree Sparrows have been spending the winter here, which isn't typical for us. It is only mid-February as I write this, so there is still time for some different birds and a "real" winter to show up!
