Northern Minnesota enjoyed a very mild fall season. As a result, the migration felt a little slow, as it seemed there was minimal bad weather to force the birds toward the North Shore. We did see a few of our late fall favorites, the Lapland Longspurs and White-crowned Sparrows. Otherwise, I enjoyed photographing our local flora and fauna while also playing with the abstract. Our first snow did not arrive until the week of Thanksgiving. This was followed closely by our first real cold snap, giving us a foretaste of the months ahead. Now, we will just hope for some of the winter finches to arrive.
